Program highlights:

The evening will begin with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Martin Butler, EMMIR Course Director and Head of the Institute for English and American Studies at the University of Oldenburg. This will be followed by a keynote address from Prof. Dr. Mary Boatemaa Setrana, a leading scholar from the University of Ghana, who will present on the topic of “Gendered Dynamics in West African Migration.”

Additionally, the event will feature introductions to the new cohort of students (with a special viewing of their Edition video—a tradition that every group of student continues in their first semester), as well as insights into their academic paths and expectations for the program.

With ample time for networking during the reception, attendees can look forward to engaging with students, partners of EMMIR, and a greater network of those interested in migration and intercultural relations in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The EMMIR programme is excited to set the tone for another two years of rich academic and social exchange for a new cohort of students.

We look forward to welcoming you on this exciting evening!
