Oleksandr's story:
With my positivist background stemming from the prevailing conventional approaches to teaching Economics, studying the multidisciplinary EMMIR program definitely challenged my views and broadened my understanding of social aspects of migration. I liked EMMIR exactly for this reason: it gave me the opportunity to shift from my previous background and acquire new knowledge in a competitive and intellectually stimulating, but at the same time, friendly environment.
After the graduation, I have stayed and pursued a career in academia. I am currently in my last year of the PhD in Sociology at the University of Oslo, and my project focuses on the relationship between family reunification and labor market integration of Polish migrants in the EU. Nevertheless, I believe EMMIR is a very versatile study program enabling students to pursue careers beyond academia as well.
